How to Wear Pastels

Pastels are those feminine light colours most women avoid wearing. It’s a trend that women fear wearing because they can make one look washed out if the right tones or colour combinations aren’t chosen.

If the current pastels are anything to go by this season, you will be wanting to add a few pastel pieces to your wardrobe to add a refreshing burst of femininity.

Many chain stores are offering great pastel pieces which are kind on the budget. Mixing pastels with bright colours adds contrast and interest to outfits.

Witchery has some faboulous sleeveless pastel tops that are great worn on their own or teamed underneath a blazer. The trick to teaming your pastels is wearing them with a neutral base like white or grey.

A white top with a pastel bottom looks classy and chic. Of course a pastel top with white bottom is just as flattering. If you’re not daunted by pastels, this dress from ASOS is the perfect pastel print and the imitation crop top breaks the outfit so you won’t feel like you’re dressed in a curtain.

Pastels can become tran-seasonal by choosing pieces like this Bomber Jacket from The Iconic and Blazer from Missguided to see you through the cooler months. Pastels pop really well against dark colours which makes them great worn as scarves, layered over a dark base outfit. Crop Tees and harem pants can be layered during the cooler months and are great worn on their own during summer.

If you’re really apprehensive about wearing pastel clothes, why not choose some pastel accessories instead? The Adorne pastel chain necklace would be a great start to incorporating pastels because the chain has added bright colours to balance the lighter colours.

A pastel clutch or handbag like the ones pictured from Mimco will turn heads as they are an unusual colour choice. They definitely make a statement by themselves. Pastel coloured shoes can be worn with denim and most dark bottoms.

Hopefully these collages will inspire you on how to wear pastels.

Are you scared of wearing pastels? What is your favourite pastel colour?
