Bachelorette Runner-up Matty Admits He’s Still In Love With Georgia Love
More than two months after filming wrapped on The Bachelorette, runner-up Matty Johnson has revealed he is still in love with Georgia Love.
Matty revealed to PopSugar that his feelings for the 28 year old journalist had not changed and that he still misses her, despite being brutally dumped for Lee Elliott in the finale aired last week.
“As hard as it is to say this, my feelings towards Georgia haven’t changed at all really. I still miss her. I still love her. It’s hard,” he said.
This certainly puts paid to suggestions that the contestants can’t be expected to fall in love after a few dates. We’ve watched enough episodes of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette to know that the feelings that most of the participants have are 100% real. Not all of them of course, there are always a few that just wanted to get their mugs on telly to further a modelling career or whatnot.
But by the time the applicants are whittled down to the top five, it’s fair to say that real emotions are involved. This makes that heart breaking moment when the runner up is dumped all the more painful – for everyone.
“When she said that she’d fallen in love with someone else, that was just . . . that was so hard to stomach. It was literally like taking a hit to the stomach. It’s so hard when you know they’re happy with someone, and it’s not you. To have that two-in-one combo, it’s just like, “Oh my goodness.” Not what I signed up for.”
“I guess the hardest part is that I haven’t been able to recover from it. You know when you break up with someone and you go through all those old photos of your holiday together and all these amazing moments — I think that’s what makes people hold onto a relationship and not let go. The fact that it’s been playing out on TV every week has meant that I haven’t been able to let go. Now that it’s finally out in the open and I can talk about it will be the chance that I can finally move on.”
Matty posted an Instagram picture with his family, thanking them for their support, and then wrote: “I wish Lee and Georgia all the happiness with their future together, especially during this difficult time. Both of you deserve nothing less.”
Credit to these two amazing women who have helped guide me through one of the most unique experiences of my life. I had the most incredible time and I’m so glad I got to share it with some of the best guys I’ve ever come across. I wish Lee and Georgia all the happiness with their future together, especially during this difficult time. Both of you deserve nothing less.
Hang in there, Matty. You’ve shown Australia what a fun-loving sweetheart you are, and I’m sure you’ll find love again someday.
Especially with pictures like this one floating about the internet. He’ll have the ladies lining up to get his sister’s approval!
