Billie Eilish Shares Nike Shoes Optical Illusion And Here We Go Again!
It’s been five years since the dreaded dress debate. Remember? Some people saw it as blue and gold while others swore it was white and gold. Billie Eilish has divided the internet once again with her own optical illusion, asking whether her Nikes are pink and white or mint green and white.
The singer was doing an Instagram Q+A with followers on her stories when she was asked for her take on “the dress.” She was adamant the dress was in fact blue and gold, not white and gold or blue and black like everyone thought.
Bevil Conway, a neuroscientist who teaches at Wellesley College and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology explained the mystery behind the dress colours.
“According to Conway’s team, the differences in colour perception are probably due to assumptions the brain makes about the illumination of the garment so that it will appear the same under different lighting, a property known as colour constancy. People who saw the dress as a white-gold colour probably assumed it was lit by daylight, so their brains ignored shorter, bluer wavelengths. Those who saw it as a blue-black shade assumed a warm, artificial light, so their brains ignored longer, redder wavelengths. Those who saw the dress as a blue-brown colour probably assumed neutral lighting,” she said.
Billie asked her followers if they thought her Nikes were pink and white or mint and white. She said her dad was convinced they were pink and white whereas she disagreed.
What do you think? Are the shoes pink and white, or mint and white?
