Everybody’s Favourite On Screen Mum Doris Roberts Dies At Age 90

Actress Doris Roberts, who is best known as Raymond’s mother in the sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, has died aged 90.

It’s been reported Roberts died on Sunday in Los Angeles. She’s survived by her son, Michael Cannata Jr, from her first marriage. Her second husband, William Goyen, died in 1983.

Roberts had received five Emmy Awards and a Screen Actors Guild award during her long and successful career, which began in 1951.

But it was definitely her role as the meddling mother of Raymond, Maria Barone, that she will best be remembered for. The sitcom, Everybody Loves Raymond, ran for nine seasons from 1996 to 2005.
