What’s on in Melbourne July 2012?


Melbourne is never short for things to do with the kids and with school holidays here there are now even more reasons to get out and about in this wonderful city.

Disney on Ice presents Let’s Celebrate!

Dora the Explorer LIVE!
12th-14th July
Her Majesty’s Theatre
Ola! Come On Vamonos!  Join Dora, Boots and the gang at Her Majesty’s Theatre for a musical adventure down under in NICK JR.’s Dora the Explorer LIVE! Search for the City of Lost Toys. Dora the Explorer has lost her teddy bear Osito, and the search is on to retrieve him!

Dorothy the Dinosaur’s Beach Party

Dorothy the Dinosaur’s Beach Party is a wonderful show full of super sandy songs that will fill your day with sunshine! Dance along to Dorothy and her friends, Captain Feathersword, Wags the Dog, Fairy Clare and Henry the Octopus, as they perform your favourite Wiggly songs, such as Can You (Point Your Fingers and Do the Twist?), Having Fun at the Beach and You Can Play the Ukulele.

Sing-A-Long-A Sound of Music

Raindrops and Roses and Whiskers on Kittens…. The Sing-A-Long Sound of Music is an event that will have all ages singing along to their favourite tunes from this classic family movie. Come dressed in your favourite costume for your chance to win some great prizes. Cheer for Maria, hiss the Baroness, and sing along with the lyrics on the big screen.

The Magic Flute

We all love a little bit of magic in our lives, especially the little ones who will be amazed by the spectacular performances by Australia’s best magicians. The Melbourne Magic Festival is back again from the 2nd-14th July where over 100 shows and magic classes will cast their spells over kids, families and adults.

Roola Boola Children’s Arts Festival
3rd-6th July

Four days of interactive performances and workshops will keep the little ones entertained at the Roola Boola Children’s Arts Festival. Choose from theatre, music, circus, puppetry, dance and magic by Random Musical, Squaring The Wheel, Cath Jamison, Asanti Dance Theatre, Polyglot Theatre, Cha Cha Sam and many more.

The Winter Kids Festival
12th-15th July
The Substation Newport
The first Winter Kids Festival is happening these July school holidays at the Substation Newport. Melbourne’s grooviest artists will come together to provide four days of fun, excitement, workshops, and performances including The Mudcakes, Jens Altheimer, Three Thumbs Up and many more.

The Winter Festival
1st-15th July
St Kilda Sea Baths
The Winter Festivals is an annual celebration of all things winter. This year the Winter Festival has a new location at St Kilda Sea Baths, which will transform into a winter wonderland with an ice skating rink and Alpine Ski hut. There’s nothing like an outdoor ice skating rink in winter!
