Who can forget Jessica Simpson’s reality show Newlyweds with her then husband Nick Lachey. It was a show based around the newly weds and watching them settle into domestic life together. It was endearing and cringeworthy at the same time. Jessica however never wants to see it again!
“I would have a panic attack,” she recently said, “about the thought of re-watching Newlyweds.
In the 10 years since Newlyweds went off the air, Simpson, 35, has proven herself a retail mogul with her successful eponymous fashion label targeted to the everyday woman. The brand takes in about $1 billion in annual retail sales, according to Forbes.
Simpson, who is now remarried to Eric Johnson, celebrated a decade in womenswear with a fête at New York’s Tavern on the Green, where she revealed she stays successful by keeping true to the woman she was when she made the leap into fashion.
“People can connect with me more when I can connect with them,” she told us.
Rising above her on-screen “dumb blonde” persona (who remembers the infamous line “Is this chicken … or is this fish?”), the Dukes of Hazzard actress cites fashion as one of the tools she used to pull her through challenging times.
“At age 25 I was going through a divorce, but then I had these red cowboy boots that made me walk on top of the world,” she explained.
“The fact that I can bring back the red cowboy boots again and continue to walk on top of the world and say everybody needs these boots.”
Jessica and Eric have two children together, a daughter Maxwell and a son Ace. I wonder if there’s a reality show in the works there with her new family?
