Katie Price has admitted to going in for an abortion three times when she was pregnant to her first son Harvey.
The reality star said she struggled to make the decision of whether or not to continue with her pregnancy when she was just 23 years old.
Harvey, 13, whose father is footballer Dwight Yorke, was born blind and with a rare genetic condition called Prader-Willi syndrome.
Katie opened up on UK chat show Loose Women, about going for an abortion three times but ultimately not being able to go through with it.
She said: “I didn’t actually go through with it. I was sat there with the cloak on, you’re there with all the women who are there to do the same thing.
“I went three times to abort him but in the end I just couldn’t do it.
I thought I’m young, I wasn’t with the guy anymore. I didn’t know what was going to happen with my career, but then I thought stuff it, I’m earning money. I’m going to take a risk and do it. I’m glad I did.”
Katie also spoke about her experience at the abortion clinic and her feelings about terminating a pregnancy.
“They gave me counselling each time I went there and they talk about why you want it [the termination.] But I carried on having him.
“They scan you and you hear a heartbeat. Some women are pressured by the men. There’s so many reasons why they do it.”
In the past, Katie has had a few terminations and she’s “not proud of it”.
“I’ve had a couple, I’m just so bloody fertile as you can tell.
I think six/eight weeks is OK but anymore than that isn’t.”
In past interviews, Katie,37 has come under fire for saying had she known Harvey would be so handicapped she would’ve aborted him.
She said: “I was young when I had Harvey and I admit it: If I’d have known he was blind when I had him, as harsh as it sounds, I probably would have aborted him.”
She later went on to clarify, saying her comments were taken out of context and she’s “so proud” of her son.
“Now it’s like oh my god, no way. Now if they said I was going to have a child with disabilities, I would definitely keep it. I would even adopt a child with disabilities. Until you are in that situation, you don’t know.”
It must be noted here that Harvey’s father was not around during the pregnancy or birth of his son. He initially claimed the boy wasn’t his and to this day has had nothing to do with his upbringing. Katie has done it all on her own, with the help of second husband Peter Andre who treated Harvey like his own son.
