Kris Jenner wants to hand back her surname and reclaim her late husband’s instead, Kardashian.
Jenner was married to her first husband, lawyer Robert Kardashian from 1978.- 1991. They have four children: daughters Kourtney (born 1979), Kim (born 1980), Khloe (born 1984) and son Rob (born 1987). They divorced in March 1991, but remained close friends until his death from esophageal cancer in 2003.
In April 1991, Jenner married her second husband, Bruce Jenner (now Caitlyn Jenner). They have two daughters together: Kendall (born 1995) and Kylie (born 1997). The couple separated in 2014.
Jenner has been in a relationship with Corey Gamble since 2014.
Now that we have all the facts out of the way we can focus on why Kris Jenner wants to revert back to being a Kardashian. In a deleted scene from reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kris was in a car with daughter Khloe and she mentioned that she was considering changing back to Kardashian, explaining that she often calls herself Kris Kardashian anyway. In fact the conversation went like this:
“I call the manager usually and I say, ‘Hey! It’s Kris Kardashian,’ Kris explains.
“Your name isn’t Kris Kardashian,” Khloe says.
“I’m going to change my name back to Kardashian,” Kris says to Khloe who says, “Why? You haven’t been that in over 24 years.”
“I was that before you were that,” Kris explains. “I was the original Kardashian.”
Khloe then rationally tells her mum that she still has two daughters that may feel rejected if she drops their surname-ie. Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
Kris fired back with, “If Bruce can change his name to Caitlyn, I think I’m good.”
Touche Kris! Touche! The woman has a point!
Even a suggestion from Khloe to go back to her maiden name wasn’t entertained. (In case you’re wondering that would be Kristen Mary Houghton. Doesn’t have the same ring to it, does it?)
However as the “original Kardashian” Kris defended her right to use the name, seeing as she feels responsible for the entire Kardashian empire.
