Molly Meldrum is recovering from a fall he had in Thailand while getting out of a taxi last night. The 72 year old slipped on something and fell to the footpath.
“I’m a walking disaster,” he told News Corp. “I’m with the doctors now, they’re trying to put everything back together.”
Meldrum played down the injury and seemed somewhat embarassed by all the attention it has received. The seriousness of the fall is yet unknown.
“I’m not sure what it was, but I slipped on something on the ground and fell on the footpath, but I’m OK,” Meldrum said. He is under doctor’s orders to rest and recuperate.
Thankfully this fall is nowhere near as severe as the one he suffered in 2011. Meldrum severely damaged his back when he fell off his roof and at the time doctor’s weren’t sure he would even pull through.
Meldrum has headed to Thailand to avoid the growing interest around the upcoming Channel Seven miniseries Molly. It stars Samuel Johnson and is based on his book titled The Never, Um … Ever Ending Story,
released last October.
The miniseries which premieres next month will feature the celebrity parties, international trips, behind the scenes politics, rock star feuds and even the devastating fall he suffered.
Samuel Johnson has spoken of the connection he has with Molly Meldrum.
“My dad is an old drinking mate of Molly Meldrum’s so, you know, I’ve been able to observe him, his mannerisms and his character traits for a couple of decades,” Johnson told Fairfax Media last week. “So, yeah, being able to play him was not as daunting as it might have been because I have known him personally for so long.”
