NICOLE Kidman has opened up and spoken about her adopted children. She says she relies on modern technology to stay in touch with her two eldest children.
Speaking to a magazine recently, Kidman said her phone and the internet are vital in staying in touch with Isabella, 22, and Connor, 20, the adopted children she had with former husband Tom Cruise. (Kidman also has seven-year-old Sunday and five-year-old Faith from her marriage to Keith Urban.)
“I have four children, so to stay in touch with them is very important. I’m definitely engaged in it but I don’t let it rule my life,” she said.
Kidman has always appeared to have a somewhat strained relationship with her eldest two children, who are both Scientologists like their father.
The Australian actress has said in the past that her adopted children insist on calling her ‘Nicole’. They were also surprisingly absent at the funeral of their grandfather, Antony Kidman, in Sydney last year.
Connor is a DJ and Isabella attends art school in London.
Kidman has said in the past that she wishes she was closer to Connor and Isabella.
“They live with Tom, which was their choice,” Kidman told Hello! magazine in 2010. “I’d love them to live with us, but what can you do?”
“I’ve chosen not to speak publicly about Scientology,” she has said. “I have two children who are Scientologists — Connor and Isabella — and I utterly respect their beliefs.”
Kidman says when it comes to her second marriage to Urban she hardly ever uses text or email.
“My husband and I never text each other. We never do. Once in a blue moon, we’ll text. But mainly we say, ‘I want to hear your voice.’ That’s very unusual but we’ve been together for 10 years,” she said. “We started like that and we haven’t changed it. We don’t email each other either. So it’s about trying to keep it as intimate and personal as possible.”
Cruise and Kidman have never disclosed exactly what the cause was of their marriage break up. Cruise’s only comment on the matter being, “Nicole knows what she did.” Youch!!
Last year, Connor Cruise said he was still very close with his mother despite reports to the contrary.
“I don’t care what people say. I know that me and mum are solid. I love her a lot. My family means everything. Yeah, I love my music, but the family comes before everything else,” he told a source.
What do you think of Nicole’s relationship with her 2 adoptive children? Has Tom Cruise been keeping them from their mother?
