Peter Andre Accused Of Being ‘Not Truthful’ By Judge In UK Court Case

Aussie pop-star Peter Andre has been called a liar in a British court over a multi-million dollar dispute between a TV network and Claire Powell, the promoter of his reality TV show.
Channel ITV2 was ordered to pay more than $8.5 million in damages to a company run by reality TV producer Neville Hendricks after a High Court dispute involving a reality show on the life and times of Andre.
The figure is expected to reach close to $12 million.
It’s been said the network cancelled Mr Hendrick’s production agreement in 2010 amid allegations Mr Hendricks had made death threats to his girlfriend Claire Powell after their relationship broke up.

Andre stated how he felt physically threatened after Ms. Powell allegedly received death threats from Mr. Hendricks. The 42 year old singer was called upon to give this evidence in court as Ms. Powell is both his close friend and producer.

The judge did not accept Andre’s claims and slammed the Australian by branding him “an extremely unsatisfactory witness”.
Mr Justice Flaux said Andre’s testimony was “not truthful” and or a “complete fabrication”.
“I am quite satisfied that no death threats were ever made by Mr Hendricks against Miss Powell or against anyone else,” the judge said.
“That leaves two possible explanations of Mr Andre’s evidence. Either Miss Powell lied to him and told him there had been death threats when there had not, or his evidence is a complete fabrication.
“I have concluded that this evidence has been made up by Mr Andre.”

It was Andre’s formal legal letter declaring he no longer wanted anything to do with Mr Hendricks that prompted the TV network to cancel the reality show.
The judge said while Mr Hendricks had admitted being volatile and had sent aggressive tweets, which Andre said made him and his family feel threatened, he did not believe he would succumb to violence.

“I was simply not prepared to accept that he was capable of the level of violence ascribed to him by Mr Andre and Ms Powell,” he ruled.
“I consider that Mr Andre and Ms Powell used the tweets as a pretext, first to justify refusing to start filming ‘Peter Andre: The Next Chapter’ series five and second to put illegitimate commercial pressure on ITV2 to terminate its contract with the claimant and use another production company.’

The cancellation was for Andre’s show which initially had an agreement for three years. The initial  program concerned his marriage to the model Katie Price, formerly known as Jordan, and then his life in the aftermath of their divorce.

Andre is still adamant that he did not lie in court.
“I am extremely disappointed that Mr Justice Flaux didn’t accept some of my evidence but all I can say is that I was telling the truth and would never have misled the court in this important matter,” he told a British newspaper.
