Child actors definitely have a lot to deal with and sometimes an important and momentous time in their lives actually happens in front of a camera and is beamed into millions of homes across the nation.
This was exactly the scenario for actor Samuel Johnson, 38 who recently revealed he had his first kiss on screen with Kate Ritchie, 37.
“My first pash was onscreen with Kate Ritchie,” Samuel told an Australian magazine “I was 14. I was mortified.”
The episode aired in 1995 when Samuel got his acting start opposite the TV favourite Sally Fletcher. He played Gus Bishop, the bad boy boyfriend of the goody two shoes Sally.
The scene was as cute and as awkward as any first kiss usually is! In the Home and Away scene, rebel boyfriend Guy lets sweet Sally into his house and says, “Hey babe, got a kiss for us?”
How corny and romantic at the same time. No wonder Samuel was mortified- fancy having the whole of Australia critiquing the kissing style of your first ever pash!
Luckily Samuel is still acting (see him soon in the upcoming biopic Molly), and dedicates a lot of his time to his sister’s breast cancer charity Love Your Sister. What a guy!
