Adele Snaps Her Grammy In Half To Give To Beyonce!
The 2017 Grammy Awards were on last night and it was definitely the year of the Queens! Adele and Beyonce to be exact!
Adele completely dominated the night by winning 5 Grammy awards including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance and the much coveted Album of the year.
On accepting the award for best album, Adele not only thanked Beyonce for basically being the Queen that she is but she then went on and snapped the award in half to give to Queen Bey!
In her speech Adele spoke about her shock at picking up the prize for her album 25, because she thought Lemonade would be the clear winner.
“I can’t possibly accept this award,” the emotional singer said after speaking about the joys and hardships of motherhood. “I’m very grateful and gracious but my artist of my life is Beyonce. And this album to me — the Lemonade album — was just monumental Beyonce. It was so monumental. And so well thought out and so beautiful and soul bearing and we all got to see another side to you that you don’t always let us see and we appreciate that. All us artists here, we fucking adore you. You are our light. And the way that you make me and my friends feel — the way you make my black friends feel is empowering, and you make them stand up for themselves, and I love you. I always have and I always will.”
While the crowds erupted in cheers and gave her a standing ovation, Beyonce could be seen crying and mouthing “I love you” to Adele from her seat when the camera panned on her and Jay Z.
Speaking at a press conference later about the broken award Adele said: “Like I said in my speech, my album of the year is Lemonade. So a piece of me did die inside, as a Beyoncé fan – not going to lie.
“I was completely rooting for her, I voted for her. I felt like it was her time to win. What the fuck does she have to do to win Album of the Year?”
Adele also honoured her good friend, the late George Michael with a moving rendition of Fast Love. The singer was almost 30 seconds into the song when, clearly bothered by the sound, she stopped and dropped the F-bomb.
“I f**ked up, I can’t do it again like last year,” she said, looking visibly upset. “I’m sorry, I can’t mess this up for him.”
Adele continued with the song again, this time in the right key. Throughout the tribute the singer struggled with her emotions and welled up many times.
Congratulations Adele! You are the most gracious woman who deserves every accolade she receives!
