The Bachelorette’s Georgia Love Receives Devastating News About her Mum
In what will be one of the biggest weeks of her life, The Bachelorette Australia’s Georgia Love has received some devastating news. Her mum, Belinda Love, has been admitted to palliative care to battle her “aggressive” form of cancer just days before the series is due to finish.
Belinda was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer near the time Georgia was first approached to be the Bachelorette.
Confirming the sad news, the journalist’s family has released a statement to The Daily Telegraph.
“Georgia and her family are going through a very difficult time with serious family health issues,” the statement read. “They are focusing on supporting each other during this hard time and kindly ask you to respect their privacy.”
Channel Ten are yet to confirm if Georgia, 28, will fulfil the media commitments of her role on The Bachelorette amid this tragic turn of events, as she supports her family during this tough time.
Georgia has been open about her mum’s heartbreaking pancreatic cancer diagnosis, and how it influenced her decision to go on The Bachelorette.
“My mum getting that diagnosis really changed my whole outlook and perspective on everything, and made me understand the importance of family and of love.
“Seeing how my dad has been with my mum going through all of this, it’s just made me feel like more than ever that I want that as well – I want someone to be my support if or when things go bad.”
She added: “But at the same time, to choose to go away for a few months while all of this is happening was extremely difficult.
“It’s been really hard for me coming back into it and seeing mum ten weeks into chemo…so, yeah, it has been a double-edged sword.”
We wish the Love family all the very best.
