Bethenny Frankel’s Ex-Husband Jason Hoppy Has Been Arrested!
Bethenny Frankel’s relationship with ex-husband Jason Hoppy has just taken a turn for the worse. Hoppy was arrested on January 27th this year and charged with harassment in the first degree and stalking in the fourth degree. Police reports say Hoppy has harassed Frankel numerous times via email and FaceTime, as well as approaching her with verbal threats.
“Mr. Hoppy approached her and a friend at her child’s school at around 8:15 a.m. and tried to provoke a fight,” a spokesperson says. “He said, ‘I will destroy you, you can get all the lawyers you want, you’ve been warned.'”
Hoppy, 45, has since been released from jail and is due to appear in court on March 13th. He maintains that the charges are false.
“There are no words to express how saddened Mr. Hoppy is over his ex-wife’s unjustified actions,” Hoppy’s criminal defense attorney said in a statement. “His only concern is his daughter and intends to vigorously fight these false charges.”
The attorney for The Real Housewives Of New York star says: “Ms. Frankel’s decision to report Mr. Hoppy’s abusive behavior followed years of systematic bullying, harassment, stalking and torment on an almost daily basis. Indeed, Mr. Hoppy has sent hundreds of escalating texts and emails to Ms. Frankel, her assistants and her boyfriend, demanding that she meet with Mr. Hoppy unnecessarily. These acts of mental and psychological abuse are domestic violence, pure and simple. No woman, celebrity or not, deserves to have their allegations of such abuse taken lightly, and we are grateful to the NYPD for their immediate action to protect Ms. Frankel.”
Frankel,46 and Hoppy were married for two years before their divorce was finalised in 2012. They share a 6 year old daughter together – Bryn- who was named to honour Hoppy’s late brother Bryan who died in a car accident over 20 years ago.
UPDATE: Bethenny Frankel has been granted a restraining order against ex-husband Jason Hoppy. The order forbids Hoppy from contacting Frankel and orders him to stay away from the star’s home, business and their daughter’s school for six months.
