Fisher, 60, was flying from London to Los Angeles when she suffered a heart attack on board the craft. Paramedics were on standby when the flight landed and they provided “advanced life support” and aggressive treatment before transporting Fisher to a local hospital.
Actress Anna Akana who was also on the flight said passengers onboard attempted to give Fisher CPR. The incident occurred just 15 minutes before the plane was scheduled to land.
There has been a huge outpouring of love and support for the actress who has battled drug and alcohol addiction throughout her life. Everyone from Star Wars fans to her family to costars have taken to social media to wish the star a speedy recovery.
Fisher’s half-sister Joely Fisher took to Instagram to share a family photo from her Christmas Eve dinner as well as a short message to fans.
“The incredible outpouring of love and prayers has been felt…Merry…Happy…Healthy…from our family to yours,” she wrote.
The star’s daughter, Billie Lourd (see photo below) and her beloved dog Gary have been permanent fixtures at the UCLA Medical Centre where the actress has been receiving treatment.
Fisher’s co-star Mark Hamill (who played alongside her as Luke Skywalker) also sent a sweet message in his hashtags saying Xmas Princess Please Come Home.

Todd Fisher, 60, the actress’ only brother, yesterday told fans at a local TV station to keep his sister in their prayers.
“She’s obviously a very tough girl who’s survived many things. I encourage everyone to pray for her,” he shared.
We wish Carrie Fisher a speedy recovery and hope she is home soon with her family and friends.
