Carrie Underwood Angers Fans With Her Comment About Fertility!
Carrie Underwood fans were super excited last week when the country singer announced her second pregnancy via Instagram in which she posted videos of herself talking about her Cry Pretty Tour starting in May 2019.
“Mike and Isaiah and I are absolutely over the moon and excited to be adding a little fish to the pond,” Underwood said in one of the Instagram videos.
However, the singer’s recent comments in Redbook magazine about fertility have angered some of her fans. The 35 year old singer opened up about “missing” her chance to have a big family because of her age.
“I’m 35, so we may have missed our chance to have a big family,” Underwood said. “We always talk about adoption and about doing it when our child or children are a little older.”
“Exactly how did Carrie Underwood miss her chance to have more kids? She’s 35 and has more $$ than she’ll ever need!” one said.
Another commented, “You need to know your window for having children is not closed. The only thing stopping you is your decision to or not to. You can still have healthy children. 35 is not old, 35 is not too late, 35 is fine.”
“I’m 38 and just had a baby . . . she’s being ridiculous,” one mum added. “You do know that everyone’s body is different, right?”
While every woman’s fertility is personal and different, Underwood is merely expressing an opinion that for her she feels it’s too late to have more children. Right or wrong, it’s what she feels is right for her family. That’s not to say women trying to get pregnant over 35 are too old- in fact there are MANY women who don’t have their first child until they’re in their forties. Yes, a woman’s fertility diminishes the older she gets but that’s not to say it’s impossible.
What do you think? Were Carrie Underwood’s comments insensitive or was she merely expressing an opinion relating to her circumstances?
