Charlize Theron Speaks Out About Her Transgender Daughter Jackson
Hollywood actress Charlize Theron has spoken out about raising her two African American children saying her ‘job as a parent is to celebrate them.’
In a recent interview online, Theron addressed the issue of her eldest child, 7 year old Jackson who she says was born a boy but identifies as a girl.
“I have two beautiful daughters who, just like any parent, I want to protect and I want to see thrive,” Theron said. “They were born who they are and exactly where in the world both of them get to find themselves as they grow up, and who they want to be, is not for me to decide.”
The seven year old, who was adopted by Theron in 2012 also has a 3 year old adopted sister called August. The actress says Jackson knew her gender identity from the age of 3 and that she as a mother has been supportive all the way.
“My job as a parent is to celebrate them and to love them and to make sure that they have everything they need in order to be what they want to be,” the Oscar winner said. “And I will do everything in my power for my kids to have that right and to be protected within that.”

@girlmacfarlane my little ones are loving your new book! Adorable story about just being yourself.
The actress is fiercely protective over her kids- which she’s raising as a single mum- and doesn’t often share photos of them on social media. She says kids know exactly who they’re meant to be and it’s her role as a parent to foster and nurture them without judgment.
“They were born who they are, and exactly where in the world both of them get to find themselves as they grow up and who they want to be is not for me to decide. My job as a parent is to celebrate them, love them and make sure they have everything they need in order to be what they want to be,” Theron said.
While many have applauded the actress for bringing the transgender issue to the forefront there are those who disagree with her choices. In fact, since the actress was first seen in public with her transgender son 3 years ago, the abuse hurled towards her hasn’t stopped. Tweets such as the one above are very common and often her Instagram photos are filled with hateful comments from followers and fans.
This hasn’t stopped the Hollywood actress as she continues to celebrate both her daughters, regardless of which gender they identify with!
