Chrissy Teigen Responds To Fans On Instagram And Gives Them Hope For IVF!

Chrissy Teigen Responds To Fans On Instagram And Gives Them Hope For IVF!

Chrissy Teigen shared the most adorable photo of her one month old son Miles on Instagram recently while simultaneously giving hope to women who are desperately trying to conceive through IVF.

The model and mum of two has always been very open about how she conceived her babies and was more than willing to answer questions from her fans on Instagram. After posting the gorgeous photo below, the star quickly faced questions regarding how Miles was conceived.

The discussion began when a woman asked whether her son with husband John Legend was conceived the same way as their two year old daughter Luna was- through IVF.

Teigen had the perfect response: “Yep, he was just on ice a smidge longer, science and the human body are beautiful.”

One commenter thought the question was rather personal and told her so. However, Teigen responded by saying that she had no problems discussing how she conceived her children, writing: “I wasn’t offended by it – people are just curious and I think hearing success stories gives people hope. I’m all for talking about IVF.”

YES!! So much yes to Tiegen for this response. IVF is something that should be discussed. It’s something millions of women are currently navigating through and it’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Having been through IVF myself I hated the radio silence that came with IVF. Friends and family were too afraid to ask me how I was going in case I broke down in tears or fell in a heap at their feet. Which was highly possible given all the hormones I was pumped up with! But still.

Or I remember finding out a friend of mine had conceived through IVF yet hadn’t mentioned anything to me even though she knew I too was going through the exact same thing! I would’ve loved to have heard her side of things or just to have had someone to talk to who knew exactly what the daily struggles of IVF were like.

Teigen’s post struck a chord with many women who have found themselves in the same situation as the model. They love her honesty and believe that she gives them hope to continue their own journey.

“Thank you for being so open and honest about it,” one person wrote. “Too many people bury infertility in shame. It shouldn’t be so taboo.”

Another said: “Yes to all of this, and to destigmatising the process and the conversation around it!”

One woman who had conceived through IVF says that she too always tried to talk openly about it herself. “The human body and science is amazing, making it possible for those of us who are unable on our own, to experience that miracle of parenthood,” she wrote.

“Thank you @chrissyteigen for being open and honest about it! It definitely DOES give us hope!”

This isn’t the first time Teigen has been so open about how her babies were conceived. In fact back in 2016, the celebrity mum faced backlash from online trolls who had a problem with the fact she ‘chose’ to implant her female embryo first and leave the male one for later. While attending the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January 2017 Teigen informed reporters that her next child would be a son, as the only embryo that they had left from their IVF treatment was a boy.

While this doesn’t sit well with everyone it is HER choice and not one that should concern anyone else. And if anything we should be thankful that a celebrity like Chrissy Teigen chooses to discuss IVF in such an open and honest forum. For too long it’s been seen as a taboo subject or one that celebrities are not willing to talk about. I for one would rather know that a celebrity over a certain age conceived via IVF rather than her pretending it was a natural conception and giving false hope to women that it can happen that easily for them also. In most cases it can’t and that’s when intervention like IVF comes in to play. Let’s talk about it instead of pretending women can easily fall pregnant at 50 years of age!

So thank you Chrissy! For keeping it real and keeping the discussion of IVF out in the open where it belongs.
