Chrissy Teigen Shares Her Tips For Travelling With A Toddler
We all know how exhausting it can be travelling with small children. Every waking thought is dedicated to making sure they are happily occupied with activities, snacks and something to cuddle because they can completely lose it at any moment and the last thing you want is death stares from fellow passengers or hotel patrons. It’s tough.
Chrissy Teigen has accompanied her husband John Legend on a 53-date world tour, covering locations such as Bali, Italy, North America, and the UK. And the couple have brought their 16-month-old daughter Luna with them for the trip.
The 31-year-old model has opened up to Us Weekly about how she manages to travel with her adorable toddler in tow.
“We never thought of not bringing her with us,” Teigen explains. “In each city we try and get an AirBnb, so we can cook and have a normal life.”
Chrissy revealed that a typical day on tour with her 38-year-old 10-time Grammy winning husband involved a lot of sitting in a tour bus with her daughter.
“We’re always on the bus. Luna loves her car seat. She points at everything like, “Trees!” That leaves us to take a breather. It’s a lot of watching movies and binging Handmaid’s Tale.”
She added that the hardest part of travelling was definitely flying with baby Luna on board, saying that she tries to avoid it wherever possible.
“She just did a long flight from Bali and nailed it — on the way home. On the way there, I was going to have a panic attack. Before I had kids, I was hyperaware of them crying. So I feel like I know when it’s too loud. I get up and apologize. But kids are going to be kids. They’re going to scream. I’m never going to be the parent pretending my kid is not doing that.”
We all know that travelling with children means that it is impossible to travel-light. Chrissy says she always overpacks to ensure Luna is well-occupied throughout the trip.
“Basically if she has her ba-ba and her lovey that goes over her face when she sleeps, she’s set. She has her colours book, her animal faces book, her Sesame Street bath time book. John and I memorized all those songs, like “Rubber Ducky.” She will play the same one over and over. It’s always the Elmo one.”
When asked how she and John manage some alone time, Chrissy replied that it’s actually quite easy as her mum lives with them.
“If we ever want to go on a date, which is rare because Netflix is killing it with the shows, then we do it. But we also just love cooking dinner. That time is easy and natural. We really don’t have to schedule it in or fight for it.”
She’s certainly making it sound like travelling with her little one isn’t too stressful at all! Luna is pretty darn adorable, I can’t imagine her ever throwing a tantrum. Well, not very often, anyway.
