‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ Star Has Surgery to Remove Extra Thumb
Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star Kaitlyn Cardwell recently underwent surgery to remove the extra thumb she was born with.
The four year old granddaughter of Mama June Shannon was born while the US reality show was still on air. Kaitlyn’s mother, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, revealed that they had made the decision to remove the little girl’s extra thumb on her public Facebook page in August. Anna and husband Michael made the decision to have the thumb removed to thwart medical issues and bullying.
Kaitlyn will need to wear the cast for six months but she remains happy and healthy following the surgery.
In a September 2012 episode of the program, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson infamously joked about her niece’s extra digit, telling the cameras, “I wish I had an extra finger [so] then I could grab more cheese balls.”
