Former Home and Away actor Dan Ewing has spoken about his split from wife Marni after enduring some ‘horrible times’ in LA.
The couple announced they were separating in December 2015 after being married for three years. They have a two year old son together- Archer.
Dan has spoken to New Idea magazine about their tough times trying to make it in LA.
‘It wasn’t for us. We were over there and we didn’t really like the set-up or the infrastructure of the country,’ he said. ‘LA is a very desperate soulless place. It’s very tough – it’s a pressure cooker and it’s like Sydney on steroids. As soon as we had the bubba over there, it just changes your whole perspective.’
The actor spoke about his increased frustration of the movie industry in LA. He said he was sick and tired of having to sit through 4 hour meetings where producers would just talk your ear off.
Although Dan wasn’t too impressed with LA he did score himself a role shooting a feature film with a former Home and Away actress. The 31 year old actor will also be returning to his old stomping ground of Summer Bay in a special guest storyline alongside co-star, Lisa Gormley.
Marni and Dan may have decided to go their separate ways but in a statement released last month, the two said they planned to remain friends for the sake of their son.
‘Dan and Marni Ewing amicably decided to end their 3 year marriage in December, 2015 due to irreconcilable differences,’ the statement said. ‘The couple remain friends, and will continue to co-parent their son, Archer, who will be two in September.’
They added: ‘We wish nothing but the best for each other and are both committed to focusing our attention on Archer’.
Seems like they are sticking to their promise as they were recently photographed celebrating Dan’s birthday at a wildlife sanctuary with their young son on June 4. Marni shared a picture of Dan and Archer with some kangaroos, saying: ‘Happy birthday @danewing.
‘Hope you enjoyed your day with your joey. Thank you for raising this magic, crazy, teenage toddler with me.’
