Aussie singer Delta Goodrem spoke to a magazine recently about her hopes of starting a family one day soon.
The 31 year old opened up to TV Week where she said she has a strong desire to be a mum one day and have her own little family. “Absolutely! I’d love to have a family,” Goodrem said. “But, if it’s meant to be, then one day it will.”
Her brother Trent announced he would be having a child soon with his wife which has made Delta think more about having kids of her own.
“I cried my eyes out when I found Trent and his wife were having a baby. He gave me a surprise card with this cute little message. I burst into tears when I read it.”
Goodrem is super excited about he future niece/nephew and has already stared thinking of what to do with the youngster once it arrives. Her brother Trent has other ideas!
“He’s literally been writing a list of things I’m not allowed to do. Because I’m like, ‘I can’t wait to go and get babyccinos, and we’ll go and do this and that’. And, my brother’s like, ‘No’.”
While she may not have kids of her own yet, she is surrogate Aunty to many of her friend’s children
“A lot of my best friends have children. I’m Aunty Dee to all their kids. But, I’m just the fun, crazy aunty at this point.”
Goodrem is in a good place at the moment and says turning 30 really put things into perspective for her. She feels much more at ease and at peace with herself.
“Turning 30 was one of my most favourite moments of my entire life,” she says. “It’s as if a layer of skin just drops and you go, ‘It’s not my 20s anymore – I don’t have time to waste’.
“You kind of just go, ‘This is who I am and my heart’s in the right place’. You get past the illusions of perceiving what you’re meant to be in life. You go, ‘This is where I am in life right now,’ and you embrace it.
“Right now, I’m very happy enjoying feeling empowered in myself and enjoying my alone time and having a glass of wine with my friends. I’m a really happy person in my own space.”
