The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Kate and William broke with tradition this year and did not attend the royal family Christmas church service, instead opting to spend the morning with Kate’s family in the village of Bucklebury in Berkshire.
Usually the entire royal family attend the church at St Mary Magdalene near Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham estate. However this year William and Kate took their two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, to their first Christmas church service along with other members of the Middleton family. The young Prince and Princess had never attended a Christmas service as children are prohibited form attending the royal one at St. Mary Magdalene.
Queen Elizabeth was also absent from church this year as she is still fighting off a nasty cold. Perhaps the fact that ‘grandma’ wouldn’t be in attendance either was a contributing factor into the royals decision to ditch the traditional service!
Photos from Christmas morning show the Royal family rugged up and walking to church together. Kate is holding Charlotte while the boys Prince William and George walk along ahead.
Such a gorgeous family! Merry Christmas to you all!
