Is Farrah Abraham Sexualising Her Seven Year Old Daughter?
Farrah Abraham is best known for her appearance on reality TV show Teen Mom where she appeared with her then newborn daughter Sophia. Since then she’s done a number of other ‘gigs’ that have given her the notoriety she seems to crave so much.
The 25 year old mum has now been criticised after sharing a photo of her daughter on Instagram with a full face of make up. The pic shows the little girl lying on her back in a pool with her hands pulled up to her face. (see below)
Farrah captioned the photo with: ‘Happy #sunday @rlsmodelsphotography God gave me an extraordinary young lady @sophialabraham I’m so blessed – excited to see all the great things flourish in Sophia’s life journey #blessed #beauty #photography.’
A week earlier the Teen Mom star shared a behind-the-scenes snap of her little girl posing in different swimwear pieces.
Fans of Farrah have defended the mum’s choice to post photos of her daughter in full make up and posing in bikinis however some were not so understanding. A barrage of comments on the Instagram photo accused Farrah of exploiting and sexualising her daughter.
Some of the concerned comments were:
‘Farrah, Sophia is a beautiful kid, just let her be and find out what she wants before trying so hard to make her into what you want her to be.
‘And sorry, but this pic could be used as something disgusting pedophiles do, you, as a mother, has to protect your daughter from all that stuff.’
‘How terrible… someone please call Child Protective Services on her!!! She’s exploiting her child!!!’
‘This is so disturbing. A 7 year old wearing makeup and a bikini, drenched in water and with a sexually provocative look on her face.’
‘I hope she’s encouraging the importance of intelligence, kindness, and good manners as much as she focuses on her looks.
The 25 year old has said previously that her daughter was born to work in fashion: ‘What I’m most proud of is Sophia is really into fashion. She’s opening up her own Sophia Laurent boutique store in Austin, Texas. She’s mentioned in New York Fashion Week. She’s in children model magazines. I’m so proud of Sophia and that doesn’t even really impact her real life. She’s just been so successful on her own so that’s just awesome to me.’
