Fashion Blogger Rozalia Russian Defends Her Right To Share Post Pregnancy Photos!
Blogger, model and entrepreneur Rozalia Russian was put in a position yesterday where she had to defend her right to share photos of herself on Instagram because she made some women ‘feel bad about themselves.’
The Melbourne based blogger is one of Instagram’s favourite mums and has a legion of followers who love to see her latest posts- which are usually associated with fashion- whether it be a new dress, her recently decorated nursery or just a selfie with nightclub owner husband Nick Russian.
The mum of two is a gorgeous looking woman who looked great before, during after her two pregnancies. Her Instagram account and personal blog are filled with beautiful images that many women look to as inspiration for their own lives.
Recently, the Melbourne based mum gave birth to her first son, Kingston Walter-James Russian who was born on the 8th of February. Russian and her husband are already parents to adorable toddler Willow.
Just like she has always done, Russian posted a photo of herself on Instagram yesterday where she can be seen posing in her cute little outfit. The caption reads “Happy Tuesday” and tags all the affiliated labels she’s wearing. Which she is most likely being paid to do- again- her choice.
While most of her followers were quick to admire how stunning she looked in the pic, there was one comment that changed the dynamic of the whole thread. One mum (who has since deleted her comment) responded to Russian’s post by saying “it’s really inconsiderate of you to be posting these kinds of photos as they make other women like me feel bad.” The comment was accompanied by some sad emoji face. She went on to say that Russian was putting unrealistic expectations onto new mothers.
Russian responded by saying, “Not sure what you want me to do? Not upload photos? I don’t understand how I am not being considerate by uploading photos of my outfits.”
I’ll tell you why you’re being inconsiderate Rozalia. It’s the same reason Bec Judd was being inconsiderate too.
How dare a woman look sexy so soon after giving birth! Where are the stretch mark photos? Where are the images of your still bloated tummy? Do you not have saggy boobs now? How dare you make all the other mums who don’t look like you feel bad.
You’re being inconsiderate Rozalia because we look at these photos and wonder why we don’t look like that post partum.
Apparently the only photos we want to see of women post birth are the ‘real’ ones. Which irks me no end. Who’s to say what’s real and what’s not? Every woman is different and her body will react and adjust to pregnancy differently from the other. Some get stretch marks some don’t. Some put on 40 kilos some put on 10. There is no REAL post pregnancy body just like there is no one REAL woman.
Saying Rozalia Russian and Bec Judd have no right to share photos of themselves after having their babies is bullshit. And saying they don’t represent real women is also bullshit! I know women that look like that and they are just as real as I am!
This snarkiness that some women have towards each other is so disappointing. You don’t hear men commenting on each other’s bodies. No man will bitch behind their mate and critique how much weight they’ve put on. You know why? Cause they don’t care!
Perhaps we need to take a leaf out their book and not care either. It’s a woman’s right to do whatever the hell she wants with her body. If one woman can share photos of her cellulite and stretch marks to make others feel better and be praised for it then shouldn’t the same go for women like Russian who present another type of post pregnancy body?
Just let women do whatever the hell they want. And if we’re going to sing the praises of just one type of woman then aren’t we totally missing the point of supporting the sisterhood?
