A few nights ago Tessa James was glowing as she arrived for the Myer Spring/Summer show at Sydney’s Carriageworks in a gorgeous black dress with just a hint of side boob and her usual dazzling smile.
Tessa told Daily Mail Australia: ‘It’s a hard thing for a woman to lose her hair, after treatment [chemotherapy] you still have the effects. I’ve got to rock what I’ve got.’
Speaking about her battle with cancer, Tessa said: ‘After what I went through things were put in perspective.
‘Feeling sexy doesn’t come from my hair, I have to rock what I’ve got. It makes you feel different, I like different clothes now and I feel empowered.’
‘I’m excited to be out, it’s nice to have a night out, and I’m moving to Sydney which I’m super excited about.’
It was September last year when news broke that she had been diagnosed with the Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer. Finishing her rounds of chemotherapy to battle the disease, Tessa is now looking more and more like her former self. Her hair is growing back and she a spring in her step again. As anyone who has been touched by cancer knows, it’s a long and hard road.
It was nice to see Tessa out and about a few days ago dressed casually in workout clothes and holding onto a bottle of Kombucha.
For those that have never heard of this drink, let me tell you, it claims to be very healing and therapeutic.
Kombucha is a tea-based drink made through a fermentation process involving a natural culture. So popular is this drink, that the ‘culture’ is being sold on eBay and Gumtree. One seller advertises it’s starter culture from $17.00! A bargain if you consider that one bottle of Kombucha to buy will set you back approximately $7.00.
A Kombucha website states: ‘The process results in the production of healthy, living bacteria known as probiotics, which are great for your gut, aid digestion and are widely believed to have energising, detoxifying and healing properties. Cell-based studies and those conducted on animals in the past have shown that kombucha helps protect the liver, combats yeast infections and fights the free-radicals that are associated with the ageing process.
Celebrities, cancer patients, expectant mothers and people with digestion issues are just a handful of the groups of people to whom the lightly effervescent concoction appeals, with big names including Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon and Halle Berry known to have indulged in the product in the past.
Whatever the verdict is on Kombucha, we’re just happy to see the gorgeous Tessa out and about and looking so well. We wish her continued health and happiness on her wellness journey!
