George Calombaris Reveals What Prompted His Massive Weight Loss

George Calombaris has definitely undergone a massive transformation over the last few years. The Master Chef judge lost a massive 20kgs and totally changed his life.

The 37-year-old chef has said that his main motivation for losing the weight was having children as well as his father’s battle with bowel cancer. George and his wife Nicole Tricario have 2 children together- James, 5 and Michaela, 3.

Filming for Master Chef saw him develop some rather unhealthy eating habits. His busy 16 hour days led him to binge eat while on set which led to a steady increase in weight. George says that losing his father as well as having his own children made him reassess his eating choices and put him on the right track of getting healthy and staying fit.
‘You have kids and life starts dawning on you,’ George said. You look at your father, who’s gone through bowel cancer twice, and go, “What are ways to combat that?”
During 2013 George lost a reported 20kgs, which he put down to eating sensibly and staying active by playing soccer and working out at the gym.
The chef has managed to keep the weight off and says he knows exactly what his triggers were and how the kilos piled up.
‘I stopped grabbing whatever was in front of me and shoving it down my throat. I’m a chef, I don’t eat fast food, but I would come home at night from the restaurant and start feeling hungry and dig into pasta.’
