George Calombaris Says His Kids Know Not To Leave Their Toys Lying Around

Masterchef judge George Calombaris previously revealed he wouldn’t let his kids eat McDonalds and famously said he would pack them their own lunch if they were ever invited to a party there.
Now the 37 year old chef has said that his kids are not allowed to leave their toys lying around in the family room. He and his partner Natalie Tricarico, have two kids- James, five, and Michaela, three, who both abide by the house rules. George said in a recent interview: ‘I’m not saying I don’t want them to have fun and run amok, but the house is a place for all of us.’
He said that the kids have picked up on the family’s organisational habits and will both keep their rooms nice and tidy without having to be asked. ‘They’ve got their toy room and they keep it nice and neat and tidy,’ George said. The chef doesn’t succumb to the old saying of kids will be kids. He believes that’s just an excuse and thinks kids should respect the whole house as being a communal space for all: ‘They understand that in the family room, we don’t have toys out here, this is where we hang and chat and talk.’

Speaking about his strict no McDonalds rule he said: ‘My son knows… We’ll drive past a certain fast food chain and he’ll go, “that’s bad in there, isn’t it, Dad?” and I explain it’s not about bad, it’s about having choices in life.’
George followed his own advice over the last few years and has managed to drop a whopping 20 kilos through healthy eating and more exercise. ‘I wake up in the morning, eat a couple of eggs on toast, a good lunch, little snacks in between, healthy snacks, and a good dinner,’ George said. “Making sure I’m eating often as well, because you forget to eat and then you binge and grab whatever’s in front of you, which is no good.’
