In a subtle homage to Demi Moore’s iconic 1991 Vanity Fair cover, Hollywood actress Natalie Portman has posed in a very similar shot for this month’s edition.
The 35 year old actress is featured on the cover of Vanity Fair’s Hollywood Issue looking chic in a powder pink off-the-shoulder gown alongside Emma Stone, Greta Gerwig, Amy Adams, Aja Naomi King, Ruth Negga, Lupita Nyong’o, Janelle Monae, Dakota Johnson and sisters Elle and Dakota Fanning.
The photos which feature in the magazine were taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz and show an ethereal Portman gazing at the camera while cradling her baby bump, covered only with some white material.
“It was about capturing Natalie at her most radiant,” said Vanity Fair fashion and style director Jessica Diehl.
Portman is expecting her second child with her husband, French choreographer Benjamin Millepied. They already have one son together, 5½-year-old Aleph.
The brunette beauty was nominated for her third Oscar earlier this week for Best Actress for her portrayal of former first lady Jackie Kennedy in Jackie. Speaking about preparing for such an iconic role Portman said: “It was very scary to take on somebody that people know so well — the way she looked, the way she spoke, the way she moved. You have to overcome that hurdle before you can even get people to sign on to emotionally empathise with you.”
