Ice-T Clarifies Comments About Wife Coco Austin ‘Breastfeeding’ Their Nearly Three Year Old Daughter!
Reality TV star Coco Austin sparked (unnecessary) controversy a little while ago after revealing she still breastfeeds her 2-1/2-year-old daughter Chanel.
Of course the mummy shamers were quick to jump on Coco saying how ‘disgusting’ it was that her three year old still needed to be breastfed. Like it was any of their business in the first place.
Husband Ice-T decided to come in to bat for Coco and explained exactly what was meant by the ‘breastfeeding’ comment. He clarified that Coco doesn’t breastfeed but does give their daughter “the boob” for comfort.
“It’s a comfort thing,” the actor said to People magazine. “Coco absolutely breastfeeds because she just wanted that mama connection with the baby. And now Chanel doesn’t breastfeed, but she wants the boob sometimes. It’s a moment where it’ll calm you down. But when people say, ‘Oh, Coco’s still breastfeeding.’ It’s not that. Chanel’s drinking everything in the refrigerator right now. She went to formula and other things. It’s more of a baby’s way of getting comfort from the mother.”
Even with the rapper’s clarification some still had an issue with the whole ‘boob for comfort’ thing and took to social media to voice their…concerns.
“I never felt shame because who can shame me? Who is the perfect parent?” Ice-T adds. “Parenting is a work in progress and all kids are different. People need to mind their business and worry about their kids. We got this handled.”
Unfortunately when celebrities choose to live such an open life by sharing photos of their little ones they have to expect that people are going to comment and have an opinion. Is it right? No. Can we stop it? Only if choose to stop taking part in social media altogether.
“Social media, to me, is to broadcast, not to receive,” Ice T says. “So when I go on social media, I just say what I want. I don’t really care what anyone is saying.”
