Jacinda Ardern Nails Daughter’s Birthday Cake Proving There’s Nothing She Can’t Do!
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Arden pulled out all the stops for daughter Neve’s second birthday making her a piano cake straight from the pages of the Australian Women’s Weekly Birthday Cake Book!
Ardern posted a photo of the cake on Instagram with the caption: “Cake making lesson number two – don’t focus on making the cake look in proportion with little to no attention on structural integrity….there is a jar of lentils propping this thing up.”
“Happy Birthday Neve! Thanks for ignoring all of the imperfections in life and just being a joy.”

Ardern’s fiance Clarke Gayford also shared a photo of the cake to Instagram, praising her hard work.
“And just like that we have a 2 year old. Can confirm 100% less swear words went into this year’s cake. Well done mum.”
This isn’t the first time the prime minister has attempted a birthday cake. Last year for Neve’s first birthday Ardern made an adorable bunny-shaped birthday cake from the same recipe book.
“I may be smiling but about an hour earlier I was not enjoying the first birthday cake making experience (like just about every parent I know!),” she wrote on Instagram at the time.
“I recommend cakes that you can legitimately cover in coconut – it hides almost everything.”
Two year old Neve Te Aroha Ardern Gayford was born at 4.45pm on June 21, 2018 and is the first baby born to a sitting New Zealand Prime Minister and only the second baby in history born to a sitting world leader.
