Justin Timberlake Addresses Young Fans At iHeartRadio Awards Saying ‘Being different means you make the difference!’
Justin Timberlake won Song Of The Year at the iHeartRadio Music Awards this week for his feel good hit “Can’t stop The Feeling” and we couldn’t be prouder!
Not just for the award, but for his acceptance speech which touched the hearts of all those who heard it. Timberlake sent a powerful message to his legion of young fans who no doubt hang on his every word. Which is why the 36 year old’s speech about inclusion and acceptance was particularly important.
While speaking about the inspiration behind his catchy tune, the father of one decided it was the perfect time to inspire and uplift his fans.
“I wrote this song because I wanted it to be about inclusion, about being together. So I guess I want to take this opportunity to speak to young people right now. … If you are black, or you are brown, or you are gay, or you are lesbian, or you are trans, or maybe you’re just a sissy singing boy from Tennessee — anyone who is treating you unkindly, it’s only because they’re afraid or they have been taught to be afraid of how important you are. Because being different means you make the difference. So … f*ck ’em.”
Timberlake’s message struck a chord with fans who were quick to praise the entertainer for using his voice in such a positive way. Even talk show host Ellen Degeneres felt moved enough to post a message of thanks onto her Instagram account. The host captioned the photo with a simple “Timberlake, I love you.”
We love you too Justin! We love you for sending an important message to our impressionable youth who may be feeling lost and isolated within their world. Hearing you say being different is okay, is a huge deal! Thank you!!
