Khloe Kardashian Gets Sued Over Instagram Photo Of Herself!
So here’s a funny story. Khloe Kardashian found herself in a whole heap of trouble after posting a photo of herself on Instagram.
You see, the problem was she wasn’t the one who took the photo. It was a paparazzi shot taken by Xposure who say the pic would’ve been worth a lot more money had she not posted it for free onto her Instagram account.
The 32 year old reality star has been hit with a $200,000 lawsuit by Xposure Photos for using the copyrighted photos and sharing it on Instagram without being allowed to do so or giving proper credit.
In court papers the agency executives say that the picture of Khloe and one of her sisters dining out in Miami, Florida last September had been “altered to remove the copyright management information (CMI) showing plaintiff as the copyright owner of the image” when she posted it on Instagram the next day.
They also claim she didn’t “seek permission to use the photographs” and that her usage of the picture “harmed the existing and future market for the original photograph”.
The Kardashians are well known for using their Instagram accounts to promote a whole array of products from teeth whitening kits to weight loss teas. Plus they’re paid in excess of $15,000 to do so. The court documents state: “Kardashian uses her Instagram feed for the purposes of promotion – specifically, to promote her own business interests, products, and ventures; to promote and sell the products and services of others. Kardashian’s Instagram post made the photograph immediately available to her nearly 67 million followers and others, consumers of entertainment news… who would otherwise be interested in viewing licensed versions of the photograph in the magazines and newspapers that are plaintiff’s customers.”
While the Kardashian’s are yet respond to the claims the offending photo has since been removed by the star and replaced by one of the millions of other selfies from her camera roll.
