Kylie Minogue Blocks Kylie Jenner’s Attempt To Trademark Her Name!
Everyone knows you don’t mess with an Aussie chick, especially one Kylie Minogue!
In what has been dubbed The battle of the Kylies, reality TV star Kylie Jenner thought she was going to be able to trademark the name ‘Kylie’ with no problems. Boy was she mistaken!
Jenner, 19 had her trademark request blocked by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office after Minogue, the ’80s pop icon and Australian legend, submitted an opposition letter.
“Ms. Jenner is a secondary reality television personality who appeared on the television series ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ and is active on social media where her photographic exhibitionism and controversial posts have drawn criticism from, e.g., the Disability Rights and African-American communities,” part of the letter read.
Whereas Ms Minogue is an “internationally-renowned performing artist, humanitarian and breast cancer activist known worldwide simply as “Kylie”.”
After reading that, the Trademarks Office had no choice but to reject Jenner’s application. Jenner’s team have already launched an appeal but she ‘should be so lucky’ as to think Ms. Minogue would give up her name just like that!
Minogue’s victory is the good news she’s needed this week after announcing her year-long engagement to 34 year old fiance Joshua Sasse had ended.
