There’s a well known quote from Sex And The City that says ‘maybe our girlfriends are our soulmates and guys are just people to have fun with.’
Maybe? Actress Michelle Williams seems to think so as she revealed that her one true love is in fact her best friend actress Busy Philipps.
The 36 year old actor calls Philipps her platonic soulmate. When asked by a reporter recently who she was attending the screening for her latest film Manchester By The Sea with, she said:
“I’m here with my best friend. I’m so in love with her. She’s proof that the love of your life does not have to be a man! That’s the love of my life right there,” she said of her longtime bestie.
Williams shared a photo of herself and Philipps, who is also godmother to her daughter Matilda, showing a throwback pic of them side by side with a current one. The photos were taken 15 years apart when they first met and struck up an undying friendship on the hit show Dawson’s Creek.
“I love that we almost always stand on the same side of each other. Also, can I just say: we aren’t at a costume party in 2001. That’s legit how we were dressed for a regular night out,” Philipps captioned the pic. “And thank God my eyebrows grew back.”
Philipps has been married to screenwriter Marc Silverstein for nine years, while Williams was in a three-year relationship with late Australian actor Heath Ledger which ended in 2007.
She recently spoke of motherhood and raising 11 year old Matilda as a single mum saying it “won’t ever be right” that Heath Ledger is gone.
“In all honesty, for pretty much everything else, I feel like I’m a believer in not fighting circumstances, accepting where you are and where you’ve been. In pretty much all senses but one,” she said. “I would be able to go totally down that line of thinking were it not for Matilda not having her dad. You know that’s just something that doesn’t … I mean, it just won’t ever be right.”
