Model Candice Swanepoel Fed Up With Double Standards After Being Shamed For Breastfeeding

Victoria’s Secret model Candice Swanepoel is sick of the double standards women face when it comes to their bodies. It seems it’s okay for Swanepoel’s breasts to be out and visible when she’s doing editorial shoots or on the runway but God forbid anyone gets a glimpse of the boob while her baby is attached to it!
The top model, who gave birth to a baby boy named Anacã with her fiance Hermann Nicoli in October, says she continues to feel pressured to “cover up” when she’s feeding her child.
Swanepoel shared the photo above which shows her son suckling at her breast to address society’s double standards when it comes to women and breastfeeding.
“Many women today are shamed for breastfeeding in public, or even kicked out of public places for feeding their children,” she wrote. “I have been made to feel the need to cover up and somewhat shy to feed my baby in public places but strangely feel nothing for the topless editorials I’ve done in the name of art..? The world has been desensitised to the sexualisation of the breast and to violence on TV … why should it be different when it comes to breastfeeding? Breastfeeding is not sexual it’s natural. Those who feel it is wrong to feed your child in public need to get educated on the benefits breastfeeding has on mother and child and intern on society as a whole. #mothernature.”
Since giving birth to her firstborn, Swanepoel has shared lots of adorable photos of her son. Just last week she shared the snap above of Anacã resting on her shoulder, with the caption: “2 months of pure joy with my little love.”
Swanepoel has been dating Brazilian model Hermann Nicoli since 2005 with the couple announcing their engagement last year. This is the first child for both of them who have yet to announce a wedding date.
