Recovering from a C-Section is no joke! I’m feeling thankful for these two older siblings looking over their new baby sister. I think we all get so carried away with the excitement of having a new baby that we forget that we are going in for major surgery. Then on top of that, we get home from the hospital, have to recover from the surgery, balance our new life as a parent to three kids and be a wife. I’m so grateful to the @peanut community for helping me tackle this new life and supporting me as a mother of three! The @peanut app is an amazing support to connect with other moms and get advice. The app introduces you to women in your neighborhood based on the things you have in common. I have been chatting with other moms in my same situation and they have been answering my questions. It is so nice to be able to relate to a community of moms and moms-to-be who are going through the same things as me. Go check it out. #peanutapp

“Recovering from a C-Section is no joke!” Simpson says in her Instagram post. “I’m feeling thankful for these two older siblings looking over their new baby sister. I think we all get so carried away with the excitement of having a new baby that we forget that we are going in for major surgery. Then on top of that, we get home from the hospital, have to recover from the surgery, balance our new life as a parent to three kids and be a wife.”

While Simpson has had a rough trot with her third pregnancy, she knows that having a strong tribe of women around her is invaluable! “I have been chatting with other moms in my same situation and they have been answering my questions,” she says about the Peanut app which she uses to stay in touch. “It is so nice to be able to relate to a community of moms and moms-to-be who are going through the same things as me.”

Unfortunately, having a c-section is still seen by many as a cop out way to give birth. As someone who has had a caesarean, I can hand on heart tell you this is not the case. We forget it’s major surgery and recovery is painful!

Lots of mums felt exactly the same way and commented on Simpson’s post thanking her for her truthful account of both pregnancy and birth.

Never change Jessica! We love the way you keep things real and honest. Having a baby is hard no matter which way it comes out! Period.
