Vogue recently announced that breast cleavage was out. The days of getting your boobs out are long gone, it’s passe, it’s so yesterday!
Which basically leaves us with two options- butt cleavage (which was done by some Aussie WAG back in the 90’s) or side vaginal cleavage. Which basically means wearing a dress or skirt with side splits all the way up to your armpits! To pull this ‘look’ off you need to a) have plucked/waxed/lasered your hoohah to within an inch of it’s life and b) be prepared to use a LOT of double sided tape to keep your modesty in tact. I know I laughed out loud at that last sentence too!
Really people?? I mean is this what fashion has come down to? Do we have nothing else to wear? Have we run out of body parts to display? And to make matters worse one of my all time favourite celebrity mums- Chrissy Tiegen– wore this side vag look to the American Music Awards yesterday. Normally I would never fault anything Tiegen wears but this is so unnecessary that I just had to say something.
I’m all for women wearing what they want, freeing the nipple and doing whatever the F they want but there’s something about this look that really irks me. Despite the fact I think it looks completely tacky what message is this sending to the world? That it’s okay to have your vagina and butt on display at a formal event like the Music Awards? That as women we need to keep upping the ante of our sexuality? More breasts out. Shorter skirts. Tighter pants and now our vaginas on display? I’m done.
I know- I sound like a judgemental old fart – and truth be told I am more of a Charlotte than a Samantha, but geez even a confident New Yorker like Sam would know where to draw the line!
Check out Chrissy Tiegen’s look below and see for yourself. Did she look amazing? Absolutely! Did she need to flash her vag in the process? Absolutely not!
The 30-year-old wore a minimalist black dress with one insane side slit that goes all the way up!
Teigen paired the long-sleeved number with gold and diamond jewels, a black and gold clutch and strappy heels.
Here are some more side vag looks that have hit the red carpet recently.
Is it too much or do you think the vaginal cleavage is just another fashion statement that is having it’s day?
