Aussie actor Sam Worthington has agreed to an undisclosed out-of-court settlement with a photographer who he punched in the face in New York in 2014.
The Avatar star was filmed hitting paparazzo Sheng Li in February and was facing a $US3.7 million ($5.3 million) civil trial due to commence in the Manhattan Federal Court on Tuesday.
Li’s lawyers however denied the allegation. They said he did not kick Bingle, describing it as a “phantom kick”.
Both men were arrested following the scuffle, with Li claiming he suffered from a torn shoulder and injuries to his thumb and wrist.
Bingle was also accused of “attacking” the photographer and trying to steal his camera after he took photos of the couple.
Worthington and Bingle vehemently denied the accusations “in their entirety”.
The aussie actor last year made a deal with prosecutors to have criminal charges against him dismissed.
In July this year, Worthington’s lawyer Brian Gibbons argued footage from the incident should not be shown to a jury as evidence because it was too heavily edited.
In a deposition filed by one of Li’s colleagues, the paparazzos claimed they had no idea who Worthington was at the time and were simply following the couple to take photos of Bingle.
