Samuel Johnson Reveals The Reason He Won’t Be Having Children Of His Own

Samuel Johnson Reveals The Reason He Won’t Be Having Children Of His Own

Aussie actor and all-round great guy, Samuel Johnson recently dedicated his Logie award to his sister Connie who has bravely been battling cancer for almost three decades.

In Johnson’s moving speech while accepting the award for his portrayal of Molly Meldrum he said: “On behalf of my beautiful sister Connie, who I dedicate this award to, I would like to urge any family watching affected by cancer or not to join us in our quest to keep our families safe from the terrors of cancer. I love you, Connie, I love you.”

This incredible career high comes after year of personal hardship, mental health battles and the loss of many close friends and family members.

During an episode of ABC’s Australian Story, Johnson said “three key women” in his life have “left him”. His mother took her own life just before his first birthday and in 2006 he watched both a close female friend and his ex-girlfriend die by suicide shortly after their break up.

“I was probably already not doing that well but when my girlfriend killed herself, the night that I left her, shit got pretty heavy,” he said.

“I’m not angry with her at all. I’m just really sad. There’s a big gaping hole in my life that she used to occupy … and I miss her a lot.”

Now his 40 year old sister Connie, mother of two young boys, has announced she is stopping treatment for the cancer she has been battling for decades.

The actor spoke to TV WEEK recently saying his sister’s children Willoughby, 10, and Hamilton, nine are his number one priority. Johnson says he has no plans to have his own kids.

“I’ve had kids in my life my whole life,” he says. “I don’t really need to squeeze my own out to have them” he said. “I’m going to be 40, I’m too old. Ive move out to the bush.I’ve retired. There’s no chance of kids.

The actor is also preparing to take on a huge role with his nephews should his sister no longer be around.

“Connie’s got some pretty important jobs for me when it comes to her kids once she’s gone,” he continued. “I’ve got to make sure I get everything right.”
