An American singer who appeared on the Mexican version of The Voice in 2011 has been shot dead in an ambush while out celebrating his birthday with friends.
45-year-old Alejandro ‘Jano’ Fuentes was shot three times in the head late Thursday night in Chicago’s southwest side.
Fuentes had been out celebrating his birthday when he got into his car with friends. Shortly after an armed man suddenly ordered Fuentes out of that vehicle and shot him.
This tragic attack happened less than a week after the killing of Christina Grimmie, who appeared on the US version of The Voice. Grimmie was shot while signing autographs after a performance in Orlando, Florida. The gunman then killed himself.
Police in the Fuentes case are investigating whether it was an attempted carjacking or robbery.
