Serena Williams Manages To Parent Daughter While Playing Tennis Match!
Serena Williams proved to be the ultimate multitasker by simultaneously parenting her daughter while playing world class tennis!
In the middle of her match at the Top Seed Open in Kentucky, Serena had the ultimate mum moment when she picked up the sound of her infant daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. coughing while seated in the stands.
Speaking at a press conference following her win, Serena relayed to Baseline how she managed to parent from the court without anyone noticing. “I think I heard her cough. I know my baby’s cough,” she said. “She was drinking, and she was eating grapes. And I’m then like, oh my gosh is she chewing? Make sure you chew.”

“I’m thinking, ‘OK Serena stop looking over there’,” Serena said of her daughter who was seated with husband Alexis Ohanian.
She managed to give hubby a look that communicated a message to him: “So I didn’t look over there but I kind of flashed my husband a look like make sure she’s chewing her grapes because she shouldn’t be coughing while she’s eating grapes. That’s the new mum in me and it’s good.”
Well played, mummy!
The crowd that gathered for Serena’s first match since the shutdown was small. With no fans on site for the Top Seed Open, and no stadium court for players to compete on, Serena says she’s become accustomed to this new normal.
“It was a really calm atmosphere, it was really chill. I can’t say I disliked it at all,” Serena said. “I kind of didn’t mind it, it was different, I’ve been through so many things in my career and this was totally different. I think I won today because I was calm for once in my career.”
