Shannen Doherty has confirmed that she will star in the upcoming pilot for the Heather’s reboot.
The TV Land network confirmed Doherty’s involvement saying: “She will portray a pivotal, unnamed character. The pilot will be set in the present day, as our heroine Veronica deals with a very different but equally vicious group of Heathers.”
Heathers was a dark 1988 cult classic which followed Veronica (Winona Ryder) and her friend J.D. (Christian Slater) and their struggles to fit into the social scene at their high school. The three popular girls at the school were all named Heather and the film ends with them being murdered and staged to look like suicides.
Doherty shared the news of her casting via Instagram on Tuesday. “Sneak peek from the #Heathers set,” Doherty captioned a photo of herself in character. “Jealous much?”
The 45 year old actress is currently undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, which she was diagnosed with in February 2015.
Her photographer husband Kurt Iswarienko (above) has been by her side every step of the way. The couple celebrated their five year wedding anniversary last month.
