Week #41: Celebrity Fashion Fix

Week #41 of Celebrity Fashion, Celebrity Style and Celebrity Pics.

The Emmy Awards were held this week in LA and the red carpet fashions certainly didn’t let us down! There were plenty of bright yellow, orange and red coloured gowns as the stars leaned away from the blushes, beiges and nude tones that we’ve seen so much of lately. Thank the lord! We’ve seen enough of that thank you very much.

Here are my top 12 picks for the most interesting (yet still lovely) dresses on the red carpet:

Elisabeth Moss

*

The 30-year-old Mad Men actress wore a ruffled floral Dolce & Gabbana gown.

This dress has been slammed by the critics but I actually really like it, it suits her figure well and she pulls it off. Unfortunately, it didn’t occur to her to have her hair done, or have makeup applied, or to shop for some fab jewellery to go with (apart from those stunning diamond earrings and bracelets). She needs some more colour to her face.

Anna Chlumsky

*

Remember this one? Vada from My Girl!! OMG I know! Wow.

Anna is wearing a grey lace Christian Siriano dress, Stuart Weitzman shoes, Judith Leiber clutch, and Neil Lane jewellery.

RIP Thomas J.

Nicole Kidman

*

The 45-year-old actress wore a beautiful blue-on-white-beaded Antonio Berardi gown with a large sequin reversed wing design, together with Fred Leighton jewels and Christian Louboutin heels.

And I’m still giggling at the dude behind her checking her out.

“Our Nic” looks happy, healthy and relaxed, it seems all is right in her world and it’s lovely to see.

Ariel Winter

*

The 14-year-old Modern Family actress (she’s the smart daughter) is wearing a stunning Katherine Kidd gown with Brian Atwood heels. Ariel accessorised her look with Meria T jewellery.

I love this on her, it’s just perfect. She gets it right every time and she’s only 14. Whoever is styling her deserves a payrise and a holiday.

Padma Lakshmi

*

The 42 year old Top Chef hostess opted for a stunning strapless orange Monique Lhuillier fitted fishtail gown and it suits her colouring beautifully.

Julianne Hough

*

The 23-year-old actress wore a strapless white and aqua-green gown that was embellished with Swarovski crystals from Georges Hobeika‘s Fall-Winter 2012-13 Couture collection. The gown also featured velvet accents on the bust and velvet petals on the bottom and train.

Julianne also wore shoes by Brian Atwood, a clutch by Judith Leiber, and a ring and earrings by Norman Silverman.

Sarah Paulson

*

The American Horror Story star wore a Reem Acra dress, Brian Atwood shoes, a Roger Vivier clutch, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

This is another one of those dresses that the critics would say was boring and lacked edge etc, but one that us plebs would KILL for! It’s stunning in every way, the colour, the lace, the simple black waistband. Gorgeous.

Christina Hendricks

*

Christina wore a metallic strapless custom Siriano frock and belt, and accessorised with a Judith Leiber clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Her hair and make up is absolutely flawless, she’s a stunning woman indeed.

Emilia Clarke

*

The ‘Game of Thrones’ actress looked gorgeous wearing a white Chanel dress with purple floral embroidery from the Resort 2013 collection. Nude pointed pumps and Chanel jewels complete the look.

I may have liked to have seen the underskirt the same length as the outer one, but I still like this one.

Kate Mara

*

The American Horror Story actress opted for a metallic gold and blush Badgley Mischka Couture gown.

Ok, so it’s sort of a beigey colour, but it’s still lovely and reminds me of something a fairy would wear if they were in a high fashion version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream or something.

Also, I hate her hair.

Jessica Pare

*

The Mad Men actress rocked a custom Jason Wu dress, with a Jason Wu shoes, Christian Louboutin clutch, and Bulgari jewels.

Love everything about this, another dress that we plebs can aspire to and get away with. Simple and elegant.
And the winner of our Best Dressed Award goes to…

Sofia Vergara

*

Va. Va. Voom.

The 40-year-old Modern Family actress wore a teal hand-beaded gown by Zuhair Murad, which featured a reverse-halter neckline and open back.

Stunning! Slightly predictable, but STUNNING!
