The ladies rock the red carpet at the Allan Border Medal

The annual Allan Border medal was held in Sydney on Tuesday night and as per usual, the ‘WAG’S’ stole the show on the red carpet.

The Allan Border Medal was first awarded in 2000 and is named after former Australian captain Allan Border. It recognises the most outstanding Australian cricketer of the past season and is voted by peers, media and umpires.

Injured skipper Michael Clarke, in Hugo Boss, was accompanied by his wife Kyly Clarke. Her Steven Khalil designed dress suited her figure perfectly and the burgundy colour of the dress suited her skin tone and hair perfectly. Another win for the skipper’s wife!

Shane Watson’s wife Lee, who is pregnant, looked stunning in a dress similar in design to Kyly’s, but the baby bump made it the winner of the night. Her dress was from George Elsissa.

As for the other dresses – red, white and black were the popular colours of the night.

Aussie fast bowler James Pattinson’s partner Kayla Dickson wore a black cleaving plunging dress.

David Warner’s fiance, ironwoman Candice Falzon wore a cream fringed dress.

A lot of the ladies had soft, sweeping hairstyles. A brave move in the rainy Sydney weather!

Stand-in skipper Steve Smith took home the Allan Border Medal, he’s only 25 – the youngest ever player to receive the honor. He was also awarded the Test Player of the Year and One Day International Player of the Year beating out favourites Aaron Finch, James Faulkner and Mitch Marsh.

“I’ve really enjoyed the last 12 to 18 months, just seeing some of the highlights up there (on the screen) sends a tingle down your spine, particularly in the South Africa series,” Steve said.

Sean Abbott, who bowled the ball that fatally injured Phillip Hughes, was named as the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year. He said that he was especially proud to receive the award as his mate Phillip Hughes had also been given the same award previously.

Ex test and ODI wicket keeper and batsman Adam Gilchrist was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame. He gave a brilliant speech to current and upcoming cricketers that is sure to be spoken about for years to come.
