After months of being unwell and getting no answers, former Big Brother star Reggie Bird has been diagnosed with Pyrrole Disorder.
Reggie, who now goes by the surname Sorenson, was repeatedly dismissed by doctors when she started suffering depression and mood swings and is now relieved that there is a reason behind it all.
Speaking to Woman’s Day on Monday, the 41-year-old said of the condition – an abnormality in the haemoglobin synthesis: ‘I can’t tell you how good it was to find out what it was.’
Reggie, who has two children – eight-year-old daughter Mia and six-year-old son Lucas, is already battling a degenerative eye disease that’s left her with just ten per cent vision. Her son has cystic fibrosis and she faced the scary test for herself after months of being ill with no known cause.
In the end, she ended up getting her answer from a naturopath, which led to her diagnosis.
The condition, that leads to a deficiency in zinc and vitamin B among other things, can also trigger mood swings, insomnia and sensitivity to light and sound.
The stress of her illness ended her relationship with former Rugby League player John Jones – however, they have since rekindled their romance.
