When Firefighter Sam Rouen won The Biggest Loser in 2008, he started the show weighing in at 154 kg’s.
And now – after losing an incredible 71kg’s on the show, and keeping it off since then, he has posed for the 2016 Firefighter’s calendar.
Even thought he looks incredible in the photos, he says that he was nervous before the shoot.
“I still don’t like taking my shirt off — even at the beach,” the 27-year-old told The Saturday Telegraph. “I’m still extremely selfconscious … I just tried to keep in mind that it was for a good cause.”

He also said that he is copping more from his mates for posing in the calendar than what he did when he was overweight.
“I was pretty lucky in high school and had a good group of friends who were really supportive, so it was never too bad then,” he said. “It’s worse now. I’ve been getting a bit of a ribbing from the guys at the station, they’ve been calling me ‘calendar boy’ and stuff like that. But it’s all in good fun.”

He was able to lose an extra 5kg’s in preparation for the photo shoot.
“I managed to knock 5kg off. Can’t say it was fun — particularly when the guys were eating pizza and I was having steamed cauliflower,” he said.
He admits that he believed for so long that his weight would keep him from becoming a firefighter and says the calendar showed it was possible to overcome even the biggest obstacles in life: “You can be at your lowest point and, with a bit of hard work and persistence, you can turn it around and fulfil your dreams.”
