Bindi Irwin wowed the judges and the audience with an energetic jive in her first performance on the US version of Dancing With the Stars.
Along with her partner Derek Hough, she danced to Crocodile Rock – as a tribute to her late father Steve Irwin.
“My mum always said that anytime my dad would watch me dance around the zoo, he would cry,” she said. “I think that the real reason I’m doing this is to make him proud, and everyone back at home in Australia proud.”
Her performance saw her top the scoreboards in a tie with The Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter. Italian judge Bruno Tonioli proclaimed a grinning Bindi the “wonder from Down Under”.
