Brow Expert Bans Children From Attending Her Salon!

Brow Expert Bans Children From Attending Her Salon!

A beauty salon owner has raised eyebrows after banning children from attending appointments at her Double Bay and Rosebery stores.

Celebrity brow stylist Kristin Fisher has a range of clients ranging from busy working mums to celebrities such as Sylvia Jeffries and Jessica Gomes. They all pay top dollar to have their brows expertly waxed, plucked or tattooed from Fisher. Her services range in price from $80-$95 for an eyebrow wax to $1000 for eye brow tattooing.

Clients were sent a text message a few weeks ago announcing the salon’s new policy regarding children and appointments. It said: “Kindly please don’t bring children to your future appointments, warm regards the KFE team.”

As you can imagine it led to a huge outcry from clients who were left upset by Fisher’s request. The brow stylist had no choice but to explain her controversial decision by posting a letter to Instagram.

I have been overwhelmed with the support from my loyal clientele and the general public on my decision to have a child free salon. As a mum and a business owner this decision has not been made lightly so I am grateful at how positive the feedback has been! Please note the children in this photo were removed from the salon at 8.59am ?

Here’s what it said:  “This is a very hard post for me because I hate upsetting people and I feel this may do just that, but we have no other option. We are imposing a new rule that clients must not bring children or babies to their appointments.

Recently we have had times where there have been ten children in the salon at one time, all unattended, while their mothers get treatments done,” she wrote on Instagram.

“We have had kids run onto the street, we’ve had clients leave midway through their appointments as they’re too annoyed about the noise being made by children and we’ve had mums call and complain saying their brows are crooked after they’ve been nursing a squirming baby the whole appointment,” she continued.

“It simply isn’t fair to the other clients who have come solo, who for them this is their monthly treat/splurge and want some peace and quiet while they have their brows or lashes done, nor is it fair to my staff who are constantly chasing after kids and nursing babies.”

Fisher is a mum of two herself and understands just how important time out is for mums.

“I of all people know how hard it is to get away for an appointment as I have two young children myself, without any grandparents here in Sydney to help out and mind them when I need to pop out,” she wrote.

“That being said, I make sure all of my ‘me time’ appointments are just that — for me. I know how hard it is to book a babysitter for such a short time, but given these appointments are monthly (at the earliest) I do hope our beloved mummy clients can find alternative childcare prior to their appointments in the salon.

“Thank you for your ongoing support and loyalty and we are looking forward to seeing you all in the salon (relaxed!) and child free.”

A large number of Fisher’s clients expressed their disgust at the salon’s new policy and took to Instagram with their opinions. Comments included things like how hard it is to get a babysitter for a short appointment like getting your brows waxed. While others said their children are quite happy to sit still for half an hour with an iPad to plat with. They felt Fisher was being unreasonable to expect that all mothers had somewhere to leave their children while attending appointments. Cause the reality is, they don’t.

Just as many mums though rallied behind Fisher on Instagram.

“I’m shocked that people would take their kids or babies to a beauty appointment. I wouldn’t even consider it. I’m a Mum of two little ones, so not judging. But it wouldn’t be relaxing at all — for anyone. Sounds like a totally fair decision,” one woman said.

“I’m a mum of twins and sorry to all the other mums but the last thing I want is to hear your cherubs running around when I’m trying to have a sneaky snooze while having my brows tamed!”

“If you have to book 4 weeks in advance for your brows you can book 4 weeks in advance for a sitter and knock a number of things off your list to justify it, simple,” another shared.

Fisher has since shared an image of herself with her kids in her salon, thanking people for their support.

“As a mum and a business owner this decision has not been made lightly so I am grateful at how positive the feedback has been! Please note the children in this photo were removed from the salon at 8.59am.”

What do you think of this move? Is it unfair to ban children from beauty salons or is it unfair for other clients to bring them along?
